EORTC GROUPS ANNUAL MEETING

This meeting of all clinical and laboratory EORTC groups will give the opportunity to all participants to contribute to the scientific activities of each group irrespective of the primary group affiliation. Groups' oriented sessions will be conducted in parallel with a review of groups' ongoing studies as well as reporting the status of protocols under development and new proposals.

CLINICAL TRIAL STATISTICS FOR NON STATISTICIANS
(annual course)

This course is designed as an introduction to the statistical principles, which form the basis for the design and analysis of cancer clinical trials. It will concentrate on the philosophy and understanding of the statistical principles that are used on a day-to-day basis in conducting clinical trials and will not simply present statistical formulae in a cookbook fashion. This course is aimed at non statisticians (medical doctors, data managers, etc.) who are already working in the field of clinical trials and who have completed an introductory course in statistics, or at statisticians with little or no experience in clinical trials.

ONE-DAY INTRODUCTION TO EORTC TRIALS

(annual course)

This course is dedicated to newly participating members (investigators, data managers, research nurses, etc.), and industry representatives. The purpose of this introductory workshop is to give guidance for participating in EORTC clinical trials activities. Participants will receive information about the functioning of the EORTC and about Trials methodology, investigator / site quality requirements and controle, patient safety management, adequate data collection and pitfalls for reliable data. Furthermore you will be shown our on-line registration /randomization  process and remote data capture system. It also provides an opportunity to visit the EORTC Headquarters and to have informal discussions with the Headquarters staff.

EORTC-NCI-ASCO ANNUAL MEETING ON "MOLECULAR MARKERS IN CANCER"
(with a Diagnostic Development Tutorial on 14-15 October)
15-17 October, Brussels, Belgium


Evidence based cancer diagnosis and treatment of cancer increasingly depend on the development on new molecular markers for the assessment of prognosis, treatment selection and agent development. This meeting is an important venue for the discussion of contemporary issues in molecular pathology, assay development, clinical trial design and the development of promising serum and tissues markers as research tools and clinically meaningful laboratory tests. The meeting will bring together clinicians, pathologists, laboratory scientists, statisticians and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry as well as regulatory agencies, providing the opportunity for a maximum of interaction and discussion.
