EORTC and EANM continue strong collaboration at EANM 2012

ICH – GCP (International Conference on Harmonisation – Good Clinical Practice) guideline compliance is of upmost importance for the research community. Understanding the importance and the applicability of GCP across multidisciplinary team is crucial to ensure high quality scientific content and successful outcome within multicenter clinical trials. In this venue, the European Association for Nuclear Medicine (EANM) recognizes the effort of the EORTC Imaging Group to implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) steps within EORTC studies in which imaging is either the end point or is directly linked to the study’s end points.

Ivalina Hristova, EORTC Imaging Officer, has been invited to present at the Continuing Technologist Education (CTE) Session VI on October 31 during the upcoming EANM ’12 in Milan. Iva has performed extensive QC of scans within several EORTC studies involving PET/CT, CT and MRI, and she will present data from retrospective QC. This session was accredited for CTE and will include a broad range of topics on GCP for Imaging Technologists including practical real-life multicentric examples of compliance with the imaging guidelines and the impact on the study.

In addition, the EORTC and EANM will continue their strong collaboration by jointly hosting a symposium, “Functional Imaging Biomarkers: from the Bench to the Bedside” (Symposium 10 on October 30 at 08:00, Space 01). This symposium will be co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Felix. M. Mottaghy, Klinik für Nuklearmedizin Direktor, Universitätsklinikum der RWTH Aachen, Germany and Mrs. Ivalina Hristova, EORTC Imaging Officer, Brussels Belgium. In this session Dr. C. Van de Wiele, Dr. Eric O. Aboagye and Dr. Jean P. Machiels will present results of their work in the development of nuclear medicine imaging biomakers and the many steps from the bench until adoption into clinical practice.

The EORTC would like to extend an invitation to its members, collaborators and followers to attend the above featured sessions.
