Mission and Policy of the EORTC Website

The primary intent of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) website is to communicate mainly on clinical cancer research with oncologists in the field and health professionals, but it is recognized that the information presented might also be of interest to patients, charities, funding organizations, the pharmaceutical industry, and the general public.

The content of this website is the property of the EORTC.

The information provided on the EORTC website is written exclusively by EORTC members.

This information is designed to complement, not replace, the relationship between a patient and his/her own physician. Accordingly, the EORTC shall not be liable for any damage nor loss caused because anyone relies on the information it contains.

The fact that names of some products or companies appear on this website does not imply their preferential recommendation when compared with some other products or companies whose names do not appear.


There is no commercial sponsorship for this site, and we do not post any commercial advertisement.


This website is financed entirely by the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) and receives no external funding or sponsorship.

Processing visitors’ and users’ personal data

The EORTC, with its registered office located at Avenue E. Mounier 83/11, 1200 Brussels, fully complies with the Belgian law of 8 December 1992 on the protection of privacy with respect to the processing of personal data.

The EORTC does not process any personal data about the visitors of its website. It does, however, collect anonymous data concerning the number of times a certain page is visited.

EORTC manages this website and, as controller, processes personal data that users disclose when requesting additional information, registering for any course or activity, participating to a clinical trial, or by any other communication. This processing is done in the framework of your request as a user and/or in the framework of the EORTC mission. Certain data can be transmitted to third parties if this is necessary to treat your request. Users’ personal data will by no means be processed for commercial purposes.

If the user refuses to disclose certain essential data, it is possible that the EORTC will be unable to comply with the request.
